Report: Volkan Oezdemir vs. Ilir Latifi Moved To UFC Fight Night Uruguay

A light heavyweight division attraction between Volkan Oezdemir and Ilir Latifi, originally scheduled for UFC Fight Night Newark, has been moved to the UFC Fight Night Uruguay card.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the news, while the alleged reason for the moving of the fight was due to visa issues for one or both of the fighters.

Oezdemir (15-4-0) enters the contest on a three fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in almost two years. Latifi has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to then champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 220. Oezdemir has competed nineteen times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.

Latifi (14-6-0-1NC) has won two of his last three under the UFC banner and is competing for the first time in 2019. Latifi has suffered a total of four losses under the UFC banner, with two losses coming by decision and the other two by way of KO/TKO. Latifi is competing on a UFC Fight Night card for the first time in almost three years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC Fight Night 96 in September of 2016.

UFC Fight Night Uruguay takes place on Saturday, August 10 from the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay with Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
