Tito Ortiz Believes He’d Fare Better Against Jon Jones That Daniel Cormier Did

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz will make his Combate Americas debut later this year against former WWE star Alberto Del Rio.

Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Ortiz feels he would have a better chance of beating him when compared to UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

“I think I would do a lot better against Jon Jones than Daniel Cormier, because Cormier is just a shorter guy (with) bigger legs, bigger torso,” Ortiz said on the Domenick Nati Show (via Milan Ordonez of Bloody Elbow). “He’s just a big, big guy. Jon Jones is long and lengthy. I’m going to get in the inside and try to overpower some of the positions. But if it would be Jon Jones, I would think I’d have a great chance against (him).”

DC had two previous bouts with Jones, losing to him at UFC 182 and fighting Jones to a no contest at UFC 214 due to a failed drug test.

Ortiz also believes that if he could get a full training camp in before fighting Jones, it would be a victory for the former light heavyweight champion.

“Yup, I think I could. If I have a camp like I did the last one of 18 weeks, 100 percent,” he said. “There really hasn’t been anybody to fight Jon Jones, to get in his face, and stay in his face. Everybody else, they want to strike on the outside with him. He’s too damn long, you cannot do that. You got to get in the inside of him. That’s the way to fight him.”

Jones just defeated Thiago Santos by split decision at UFC 239 and has hinted at a third bout against DC.
