Cyborg Unwilling To Drop To 135 For Fight With Ronda Rousey
One of the biggest dream fights in the MMA world right now is current Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
However, Cyborg is unwilling to drop down to bantamweight (135 pounds) for a potential superfight with Rousey, something she said during an interview with Flo Combat.
“135 is not an option,” said Cyborg.
Despite being unwilling to drop down to 135 pounds, Cyborg still wants to be considered the best in the world, but wants to leave that up to the fans.
“I will let the fans decide that. I have an exciting fighting style and a lot of fans like how I win by knockout. Fans define a fighter’s legacy. When I’m done I hope they respect my battles inside the cage and realize I always tried to help create opportunities for growth in WMMA on a whole,” said Cyborg.
Cyborg has had a long career in MMA, fighting for top organizations like the UFC, Invicta FC and Strikeforce, but making money is the most important thing for her.
“I have been under contract with the UFC for five fights already, and my last two were actually in the UFC. For me fighting is a job. I want to work where I make the most money, but more important than that I want to work with promoters who want to promote me and build my brand alongside theirs. I don’t care where the actual fight takes place or what the broadcast deal is. Fans have followed my career for 10 years and helped me set viewership records with four different promotions with four completely different broadcast networks,” Cyborg stated.
Cyborg does not have her next fight announced as of yet, her last fight was a victory over Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night 95.
