Shingo Takagi Feels That KENTA Should’ve Paid His Dues In NJPW Before Entering The G1

Shingo is not too fond of KENTA just inserting himself into the G1.

Former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Shingo Takagi is a part of the B Block in the G1 Climax 29 tournament and he suffered his first lost today by way of Juice Robinson. Shingo is coming off a momentous run in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament that he went undefeated in until he met Will Ospreay in the finals. At NJPW’s Dominion show, Shingo declared for the G1 and it was also at that event that former WWE star KENTA arrived in New Japan and declared for the G1.

Shingo expressed during an interview with NJPW1972.com that KENTA should’ve paid his dues in NJPW before entering the G1. He added that he does not care what KENTA did in America and just because KENTA had a run in the U.S. does not mean he can cut it in New Japan.

“Yeah. Look, I didn’t come here because of what NJPW wanted, it was because of what Naito wanted as part of LIJ. So I was tested in the Super Junior Tag League, tested in Best of the Super Juniors. I paid my dues, went through the steps. I don’t think KENTA should just be able to say, ‘See you at the G1’.” Shingo continued by telling a story about KENTA, “Maybe he doesn’t remember, but I can’t forget. Right before I lost consciousness I was thinking, ‘I’m gonna get you for this’. To tell you the truth, I think NJPW has the best wrestling in the world. I don’t watch WWE, don’t watch American pro wrestling, and honestly don’t know or care about what he did or didn’t do in the States. Just because you make a name for yourself in America doesn’t mean you can cut it here.”

Fightful had coverage of day two of the G1 Climax 29 tournament and the results can be found here.
