Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Dewayne Beamon Set For August 24 On DAZN

Juan Francisco Estrada’s return to Mexico is official as his first super flyweight world title defense has been announced.

Estrada, the WBC champion at 115 pounds, will defend his title against Dewayne Beamon on August 24. The fight will headline a DAZN-streamed card at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Hermosillo.

This will be Estrada’s first fight since inking a co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing and first since winning the WBC title back in April. Estrada captured the WBC title when he defeated Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in a rematch of their February 2018 slugfest that saw Sor Rungvisai narrowly beat Estrada on HBO.

Beamon is a 33-year-old fighter from North Carolina who sports a 16-1-1 pro record. Beamon’s last fight saw him avenge his only pro defeat and beat Martin Tecuapetla by unanimous decision. After winning three of his last five fights, Beamon is now ranked No. 15 by the WBC and No. 12 by the WBO at super flyweight.

Announced for the undercard of the August 24 DAZN card is Filip Hrgovic vs. Mario Heredia for the WBC International heavyweight title. Hrgovic is coming off a first-round knockout win over Gregory Corbin back in May while Heredia’s last fight saw him beat former title challenger Samuel Peter this past April. Other prospects that will also be a part of the event are Shakhram Giyasov, Alexis Espino and Diego Pacheco competing in separate fights.
