Heather Hardy, Carlos Negron, Curtis Stevens Added To August 3 PBC Undercard
Heather Hardy is returning to boxing next month in Brooklyn.
Hardy, the current WBO featherweight champion, will fight on the undercard of the August 3 PBC card taking place at the Barclays Center. An opponent was not revealed and it has not been determined whether or not her next fight will be a title defense.
It will be Hardy’s first boxing fight since winning the WBO title last October with a dominant performance over Shelly Vincent on HBO at Madison Square Garden. Since then, Hardy made a return to mixed martial arts where she lost to Taylor Turner at Bellator 222 on June 14. Hardy sports a 2-2 record in MMA and a 22-0 record as a pro boxer.
Also announced for the undercard is a 10-round heavyweight fight between Carlos Negron and Brian Howard. Negron, who represented Puerto Rico in the 2008 Olympics, is coming off a knockout loss to former title challenger Dominic Breazeale last December. Howard, who sports a 14-3 record, is 1-2 in his last three fights.
In a 10-round junior middleweight bout, former world title challenger Curtis Stevens will take on Wale Omotoso. Stevens has fought the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin, David Lemieux, Hassan N’Dam and Andre Dirrell, but is now dropping down to 154-pounds. Omotoso has alternated wins and losses in his last six fights and has not fought since May when he was defeated by Chordale Booker.
As for the PBC on FOX card taking place later that evening, heavyweight contenders Adam Kownacki and Chris Arreola will meet in the main event. The other two fights on the televised portion of the event will have Andre Berto fight Miguel Cruz and interim WBA light heavyweight titleholder Marcus Browne will take on Jean Pascal.
