Dana White Knows Why Some Fighters Want To Be Like Conor McGregor
Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is arguably one of the most controversial figures in professional MMA history.
A lot of fighters have imitated the antics of McGregor and UFC President Dana White believes he knows why that happens.
“It happens,” White told Hashtag Sports (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “When you see a guy who’s as successful as he is and he’s fun, I mean you see the guy’s fun and everything else, and you start thinking ‘well maybe if I act like this, I’ll have what he has’.”
Many fighters have even started becoming two division champions, much like what McGregor has previously done, with the latest fighter achieving that goal being UFC Flyweight & Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo.
Even though a lot of fighters allegedly try to be like McGregor, one thing White knows is that there is only going to be one Conor McGregor.
“There’s only one Conor McGregor,” White said. “People will always ask me ‘do you think you’ll ever find another Conor McGregor, are you trying to find another Conor McGregor?’ There will never be another Conor McGregor, but there will be somebody else who’s different in their own way and will become a star in their own way.”
McGregor was last seen at UFC 229, suffering a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
