Francis Ngannou Stops Junior Dos Santos; Joseph Benavidez Wins At UFC Fight Night Minneapolis
Francis Ngannou closes the show.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night Minneapolis, Francis Ngannou put Junior dos Santos away in their heavyweight scrap. It was a fight that almost promised a knockout from the moment it was booked and Ngannou made sure to deliver. Dos Santos was caught over-extending on a power punch, leaving the opening for Ngannou to land a couple of clean left hands that put the former UFC Heavyweight Champion down. A few punches on the ground later and referee Herb Dean had no choice but to step in and stop the fight.
And just like that.. Francis Ngannou TKO’s JDS.

After the fight, Ngannou called for a title shot, asking for the winner of the upcoming Heavyweight Title fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Ngannou has rattled off three straight victories, all in under 90 seconds, since losing back-to-back decisions against Miocic and Derrick Lewis.
Earlier in the night, Joseph Benavidez put in his claim for a UFC Flyweight Title shot by stopping Jussier Formiga in the second round of the co-main event.
Joseph Benavidez repeated history against an improved Jussier Formiga. He trounced a true divisional legend in both his foe’s physical and technical primes. That is all kinds of impressive, especially when people expect you to diminish. Give him his title shot! #UFCMinneapolis pic.twitter.com/88NUfWvowo
