Alexa Bliss Reflects On Concussion She Suffered During RAW Women’s Title Match At WWE Hell In A Cell
Alexa Bliss was just one month away from facing one of her childhood heroes.
Following last night’s Stomping Grounds pay-per-view, a new edition of the WWE Network series ‘WWE 365’ aired that was based on the past year of former 5-time WWE Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Although Alexa appeared on WWE TV on a consistent basis for the later portion of 2018, she did not compete in the ring and that stemmed from concussions she suffered in the Fall of 2018. During the 365 special, Bliss recalled suffering a concussion during her RAW Women’s Championship match with Ronda Rousey at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view after she took a headlock takeover and her head hit the mat.
One month after that match, Bliss was set to face WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus at WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution. Bliss recounted when she knew something was wrong during the RAW Women’s Title match and what she was told by Vince McMahon about her recovery.
“Hell In A Cell happened and I took a headlock takeover, and when I did, my head went straight into the mat. This stuff happens and it was no one’s fault. I had a really bad headache. I told our doctors — I said, ‘Hey, something is just not right. Like my head just doesn’t feel right.’ I land in Orlando that next day and I take the impact test, and I fail it pretty good.” She said. “So, that’s when they diagnosed the concussion. I got called into Vince’s office and he was like, ‘We’re gonna give you time off. We’re gonna send you to the best doctors and we’re gonna figure out what’s going on. I want you to rest, recover because we need you one hundred percent.’”
