Dina Thorslund Ready For Heather Hardy Fight After Most Recent WBO Super Bantamweight Title Defense
Dina Thorslund gets another world title defense under her belt, but she could be thinking about a potential move up to featherweight.
Thorslund won a wide unanimous decision against April Adams on a boxing card in Denmark to retain her WBO super bantamweight title. Thorslund successfully defended the title with all three judges scoring the bout 100-90 in favor of the champion.
Promoter Nisse Sauerland said after the fight that Thorslund’s plans include one day moving up to featherweight and challenge Heather Hardy, the current WBO champion at that weight class.
“That was a fantastic performance from Dina,” Sauerland said. “She showed tonight why she is one of the most exciting female fighters in the world. There are a lot of big opportunities for her now including a move up to featherweight and a fight with Heather Hardy. That would be huge in Denmark or America.”
Thorslund agreed with Sauerland’s sentiment and would love to face Hardy down the line. Hardy won the WBO title this past October when she defeated Shelly Vincent, but has yet to defend the belt as she returned to competing in mixed martial arts, most recently competing at Bellator 222 back on June 14.
“I want to be the best and that involves moving up in weight and collecting more titles,” Thorslund said. “I am ready to face anyone and that includes Hardy.”
The Danish champion once held the interim WBC super bantamweight title back in 2018, but then won the WBO title later that year. Thorslund has made two title defenses, the first being against Alesia Graf back in January and now against Adams.
