Report: WWE Looking To Stop Wrestling During Commercial Breaks
There could be a major change coming to WWE programming, if it hasn’t already.
You may have noticed last week that WWE had an unusual number of 2-out-of-3 falls and elimination matches. A new rule may have led to that, according to multiple outlets.
Bryan Alvarez of F4W reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon held a meeting last week and informed people backstage that they would cease wrestling throughout the commercial breaks. This led to “rest periods” during two-out-of-three falls and elimination matches.
WWE traditionally has commercial breaks during any extended matches, so the change will be noticeable moving forward. However, WWE has made a lot of “changes” that didn’t end up as changes for very long, like the third hour of Raw having a new presentation.
John Pollock of Post Wrestling would expand on the situation and say that the move was announced Monday at a Raw production meeting.
Smackdown Live runs a picture-in-picture that helps remedy the situation, but traditionally Monday Night Raw hasn’t enjoyed the same luxury.
