Report: Valentina Shevchenko vs. Liz Carmouche 2 Set for UFC Uruguay

Following her knockout win over Jessica Eye, Valentina Shevchenko’s next title defense is already set, taking on Liz Carmouche at UFC Uruguay.

Under two weeks after her knockout win over Jessica Eye, Valentina Shevchenko’s next title defense appears to be already booked.

According to a report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Shevchenko (17-3) will rematch Liz Carmouche on August 10th at UFC Fight Night Uruguay. The bout will be Shevchenko’s second title defense, riding a three fight win streak since returning to 125 lbs. However, Shevchenko lost to Carmouche almost nine years ago, suffering defeat for the first time in her MMA career. That clash ended in a doctor stoppage after two rounds but Shevchenko will now look to avenge the loss in Uruguay.

Carmouche (13-6) is 2-1 since dropping to Flyweight, defeating Jennifer Maia and Lucie Pudilová for a two fight win streak. This isn’t Carmouche’s first title shot inside the octagon either, memorably challenging Ronda Rousey for the Bantamweight crown in the first ever female bout in UFC history. Carmouche famously experienced some success in that outing but was eventually submitted. She’s produced mixed results since but has performed consistently throughout, establishing herself as one of the sport’s most durable competitors.

UFC Fight Night Uruguay takes place in Montevideo on August 10th at the Antel Arena. The event will air on ESPN+.
