Exclusive: Alicia Atout Talks Getting Brought In For AEW Debut Show, Compares Double Or Nothing To All In
Alicia Atout continues to be one of wrestling’s great self-made stories in a digital age.
The AMBY talent made her name interviewing tons of stars in the wrestling world, and looks to build upon that experience. This year, Atout joined All Elite Wrestling and appeared on their first event, Double or Nothing. When speaking to Fightful, Atout compared the event to the somewhat-independent effort of All In last year.
“It was amazing, I was on cloud 9 being a part of AEW’s debut show. It was pretty big, very exciting, the vibe backstage was incredible. Everyone behind the company knows we’re not getting rid of this ring. We’re going to be using it for months, if not years to come. For All In, the talent didn’t know if there was more coming. At Double or Nothing, we all knew there was more,” said Atout.
As far as actually getting hired, Atout had previously worked with Impact Wrestling before the AEW acquisition and talked to one of AEW’s top dogs about coming on. Her first night on the job couldn’t have went better.
“I was dealing with Cody. That was my main go-to, my main boss. I reached out and said if you need someone, hi! Luckily it all just worked out. It was definitely different (from Impact) when it came to AEW, it was on such a grand stage. The production was spot on, and things were run flawlessly. You would expect some kind of screw up, but there really wasn’t between the matches, the production, the timing. At All In, there was that time crunch for the main event. The organization was incredible,” Atout said.
Atout also said she wasn’t sure of her schedule, as that’s something that she’s discussing with the company. However, there are no plans for AMBY to go anywhere for now.
