Valentina Shevchenko Brutally Head Kicks Jessica Eye, Retains Title At UFC 238
Jessica Eye got the opportunity that she’d clamored for over the course of years at UFC 238, finally a shot at a Flyweight championship in the UFC.
Unfortunately, the task in front of her was tall. Valentina Shevchenko had become the 125 pound champion shortly after many thought she should have gained the nod against Amanda Nunes, the best 135-145 pound fighter in the world. Considering Eye’s downright depressing run at 135 pounds, not many were giving her a chance.
Title on the line.

That seemed to be proven true. Shevchenko dominated the entire fight, which barely lasted more than a round. Shevchenko took down Eye and controlled her for the entire first round, grabbing a wristlock at one point before the round ended. However, round two saw a vicious, yet scary highlight reel finish when Shevchenko knocked Eye out cold with a sick head kick. Eye remained down for several minutes before getting to her feet.
