Match Ratings For WWE Smackdown Live From 6/4/19 From Sean Ross Sapp
VIDEO WARS
- Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods come out and Kofi Kingston shows a video highlight of him in Ghana.
- He talks about how happy he was to go back.
- Dolph Ziggler comes out and says he respects Kofi Kingston too much to beat him up right now.
- Dolph Ziggler throws to a video too. Why?
- From now on if any of you want to fight me in person, you have to commission your own video package and throw to it as we talk shit to each other. Otherwise you’re not worth my time.
- Kofi Kingston shows Dolph Ziggler giving up his U.S. Title in 2017 and says it could have been Ziggler as WWE Champ, but he walked away.
- All things considered, this was a good promo.
- the production team was ABUSED by Kofi and Ziggler before this show. I THOUGHT THE PROMO WAS OVER. No. Another clip.
New Day defeated Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens
5.75/10
- This match is at least something that makes sense about the wild card that doesn’t make sense.
- It’s good to keep New Day in tag team action, and why wouldn’t Sami and KO team up?
- Good work, but who is surprised about that? Four of the best, and a couple of teams that could help make tag team wrestling mean something.
- This is Xavier playing babyface in peril as KO and Zayn implement some great heel team work.
- Kofi Kingston tags in with the hot variety and hits Sami Zayn with a Trouble in Paradise for the win. He remains red hot.
- Dolph Ziggler shows up and superkicks Kofi Kingston, and leaves him laying.
Moment Of Bliss
- Alexa Bliss is heeling a stagehand for making bad coffee. Okay.
- Bayley comes out and Alexa Bliss is just worried about all of her coffee.
- Bayley smacks the coffee out of Alexa’s hands.
- Carmella and Charlotte Flair come out, respectively.
- Charlotte says she’s facing Carmella and Alexa Bliss for a title match at STOMPING GROUNDS.
- So Raw Superstars are also eligible for Smackdown titles. Ok.
- R-Truth approaches Carmella backstage, and Shane McMahon calls and tells Truth he has a match up next.
24/7 Championship
Lumberjack match

- Elias dropkicks R-Truth and rolls him up for the pin.
- The lumberjacks hit the ring and brawl, but Elias sneaks out. They both go under the ring.
- Truth wins the title under the ring and runs out.
Backstage Crappenings
- Aleister Black cuts another good MOODY promo. They get better each week.
- Lars Sullivan: Why is a tree good? Why is the sunset good? Why are boobs good? He’s not happy about being called a freak. He wants to hurt people. Especially ALL YOU PEOPLE. He wants to paint a picture with Lucha House Party’s body fluids.
LE BIG DOGE
- Shane McMahon teases calling out Roman Reigns LIIIIIIIIVE IN THE RING TONIGHT.
- He does — after throwing to another video. Yeehaw. He has the Revival with him, I like that.
- Roman Reigns LE BIG DOGE comes out and beats up the Revival.
- Drew McIntyre helps Shane, though. McMahon spears Reigns twice.
- We’ve had Sami Zayn, Alexa Bliss, The Revival, Drew McIntyre already on the show. They’re from Raw. Ok.
Top Contender Match
Alexa Bliss defeated Carmella and Charlotte Flair
5.75/10
- Alexa Bliss hits a Code Red, and Carmella applies the Code of Silence.
- Alexa Bliss has a hell of a punch on her that takes Carmella out.
- A whole lotta kicks here.
- Fire & Desire come out and Carmella lets it distract her because all WWE babyfaces are stupid.
- Charlotte chasing Alexa was hilarious, but Alexa sitting there waiting to get chopped wasn’t.
- I dig triple threat matches on Smackdown. It feels different. Stakes don’t hurt, either.
- Charlotte and Carmella tease counters into the super Frankensteiner. That was very good.
- An OUTSTANDING nearfall hits when Alexa does the Twisted Bliss on Charlotte, who has the Figure 8 on Carmella. Another nearfall on Natural Selection.
- Charlotte has to stop getting airborn on toe kicks.
- I don’t even remember Fire & Desire’s “issues” with Carmella. They yank her down.
- Alexa Bliss beats Carmella with a DDT.
- Constantly referring to the brand split or a wild card is getting insulting to the intelligence of the fan, which is some weird paradox that I don’t even know how to get out of.
ANDRADE
- Andrade attacks Apollo Crews and hits him with a Hammerlock DDT before their match.
- Balor, who is in fact still in WWE, comes out and beats up Andrade.
- Andrade turns the tides and gets his Hammerlock DDT on Balor. Balor took this really well.
Goldberg
- I half expected Goldberg to say “TOO BAD BRO, FAMILY MAN IS HERE.”
- I thought Goldberg was about to throw to a video. He says the ass kicking Goldberg is here.
- Undertaker is NEXT….TO REST IN PEACE.
- Undertaker is here. In the ring with Goldberg. He then disappears.
Rating guide
10- Perfect, 9- MOTY Territory, 8- Excellent, 7- Great, 6- Good, 5- Average to above average, 4- Slightly below average, 3 or below: Poor
Each match starts at a 5 and slides up and down based on entertainment, execution, time, environment, reaction and stakes. The ratings are in no way an indication of a “star rating,” which is a completely different system. A standard, non-offensive “TV match” lands at a 5.The gap between 5.75-6 is generally the largest, with anything reaching 6 being recommended viewing.
These are opinions, and incredibly inconsistent ones. Don’t take them too seriously, and have (and share) your own!
