Jon Moxley Believes Three Hours Of WWE Raw Is Too Much; Tries To Find Solutions
Jon Moxley wants to fix WWE Raw.
Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE) knows what the majority of wrestling fans know; three hours of WWE Raw is too much. Moxley was a focal point on WWE Raw for years, appearing in multiple segments a night and usually getting in the ring every week. Being used every week took a toll on Moxley, and he wants to make sure others don’t suffer from the same burnout.
Now that he’s away from WWE, Moxley gives his thoughts on the three-hour Raw and offers solutions on how WWE can make things better for the fans and talent.
“Three hours of Raw. I get why they do it. They get paid, but it’s too much. It deludes the product. They have so much product with Raw, SmackDown, 205 Live. It gets deluded after awhile. Especially when it’s all produced and all looks the same,” said Moxley in an interview with Wade Keller of PWTorch. “The opening segment with 15-minute promos and stuff but I don’t know how to fill three hours every week with good stuff. Because you can only give them so much wrestling, even a big wrestling fan can only watch so much wrestling. So you end up giving away these big pay-per-view matches on TV. Go back to an hour. I don’t know. I’m not a genius who can tell you how to fill [three hours] but three hours is a hell of a lot of time to fill. SmackDown is much more manageable.”
Moxley continued, “They retread the same matches over and over. One problem that I never had is, some guys just don’t ever get used. I was always at least doing something. There are some guys that sit there and don’t get used. But the guys that get used, are over-used. You see the same matches three weeks in a row. I always thought, why don’t they do, me vs. Bray Wyatt one week and instead of doing it again the next, show clips from last week and then give Tyler Breeze a match. Give me and Bray Wyatt an extra day off and let Tyler Breeze have a week on Raw.”
Moxley stated that the top guys who work every week would love to have the extra day off. He also believes that not having guys wrestle every week would make them feel more special when they do wrestle on television.
