Report: Max Holloway Defends Featherweight Title Against Frankie Edgar At UFC 240

The UFC Featherweight Title is going to be on the line at UFC 240 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as Max Holloway puts the gold on the line against #3 Frankie Edgar.

Holloway (20-4-0) is going to be making the third defense of his championship, previously defending it against Jose Aldo and Brian Ortega. Holloway is also coming off of a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 236, but that bout was for the vacant UFC Interim Lightweight Title. Holloway has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and three of them came by way of decision.

Edgar (23-6-1) has won three of his last four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the trio of Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez. Edgar has twice before challenged for the UFC Featherweight Title, losing both times to Jose Aldo at UFC 156 and UFC 200. Edgar is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn by unanimous decision at UFC 112 to win the gold.

UFC 240 takes place on Saturday, July 27 from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
