Ultimate Fighter 25 To Feature “All Star” Cast
Despite the fact that the current season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 is still on going, details have emerged regarding the next season of the show.
The next season of TUF will begin filming sometime in January, according to MMA Junkie. The weight class for the show will be welterweight, which means there will not be duel weight classes for the second season in a row. What will make this season a little different is that the show will be an “all star” format with past UFC veterans and TUF alumni battling for the six figure UFC contract.
The last time UFC embraced this format was The Ultimate Fighter 4, which was dubbed “The Comeback” and it featured past UFC fighters battling for a contract and a title shot. Matt Serra won the welterweight crown that year and would go onto pull the biggest upset in UFC history when he defeated Georges St. Pierre for the title at UFC 83.
Travis Lutter would win at middleweight, but would miss weight for his title shot and lose a non-title affair to then champion Anderson Silva at UFC 67. He fought once more in the UFC before being released.
Competitors and stakes have not yet been announced for the upcoming season.
