Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva Now A Free Agent

Former UFC Heavyweight Title challenger and longtime MMA veteran Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is now a free agent after the UFC declined to renew the fighter's contract.

Silva (19-10-1) only garnered a record of 3-7-1 during his time in the UFC. Those three wins came over Alistair Overeem, Travis Browne and Soa Palelei. Silva has only won just one of his last eight under the UFC banner, that lone win came over the aforementioned Soa Palelei at UFC 190.

Silva also challenged for the UFC Heavyweight Title, losing to then champion Cain Velasquez by first round TKO at UFC 160 in May 2013. Silva will be leaving the promotion on a three fight losing streak, and he has not earned a victory in fourteen months.

Silva’s final fight in the promotion was a second round knockout loss to Roy Nelson, which fight occurred at UFC Fight Night 95 this past September.

After the previously mentioned loss to Nelson, Silva’s manager in Alex Davis spoke to MMA Junkie about his client's future.

“I think ‘Bigfoot’ will probably be out of the UFC and probably go to Rizin (FF) or Russia,” Davis said.

The UFC or Silva himself has yet to comment on this situation.
