Scott Quigg Withdraws From April 26 Fight Due To Injury
Former world champion Scott Quigg suffered an arm injury that will prevent him from fighting on April 26.
Quigg was originally scheduled to face Jayson Velez on the undercard of the DAZN boxing show taking place at The Forum. Quigg made the announcement in the tweet below, revealing that it was an arm injury that took place during a sparring session in preparation for the fight.
I will no longer be fighting on the 26th April due to sustaining an injury to my Arm during sparring on Monday which needs surgery to put right! I’m Absolutely devastated as training camp had been one of my best and was so close to the fight. pic.twitter.com/LBXRPWop7D

The 30-year-old Quigg is coming off a second-round TKO win over Mario Briones last October which started Quigg’s first real run in the 130-pound division. Prior to that fight, Quigg unsuccessfully challenged for the WBO featherweight title, losing a 12-round decision against Oscar Valdez. Unfortunately for Quigg, even if he had beaten Valdez, he would not have won the title as Quigg was overweight the day before the fight and was ineligible to win the belt. Quigg once held the WBA super bantamweight title from 2013 to 2016.
The rest of the card remains intact, with two world title fights taking place. The main event is the WBC super flyweight title rematch between Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada. The other title fight is a super bantamweight title unification between WBA champion Daniel Roman and IBF titleholder TJ Doheny.
