Francis Ngannou Believes Win At UFC 239 Should Get Him A Title Shot
Francis Ngannou and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos are set to collide at UFC 239.
A surging Ngannou believes that a win over the former heavyweight champion will earn him another shot at UFC gold.
“I think after this there will be no issues with the belt,” Ngannou said at the UFC Seasonal Press Conference (via Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie). “It’s the only thing that makes sense.”
Ngannou had previously challenged for the UFC Heavyweight Title at UFC 220, losing to then champion Stipe Miocic by unanimous decision.
There is one thing that Ngannou knows and that is that he is in for quite the challenge at UFC 239.
“After the last fight I thought I would get the title fight back, but it didn’t happen, I don’t know why” Ngannou said. “I’m so happy to have the fight against Junior. He don’t have the belt, but we all know he’s a champion. We have seen him since he comes back, he looks like a champ.”
UFC 239 takes place on Saturday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
