Poirier & Adesanya Open As Underdogs In Title Unification Bouts

Dustin Poirier and Israel Adesanya both competed at UFC 236 and both would walk away with interim championships around their waists.

Adesanya, who captured the interim middleweight title, will battle UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker in a title unification bout later this year. Bet Online has released the early betting odds for the bout, which lists Adesanya as a +135 underdog and Whittaker as a -155 favorite for their encounter. There is no date set yet for the encounter, but reports have surfaced stating that the bout could happen in either Australia or New Zealand.

Poirier, who walked away with the interim lightweight title, will take on UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title unification bout later this year. Bet Online has also released early betting odds for that bout, stating that Poirier is going to be the +220 underdog and Nurmagomedov is listed as a -260 favorite. There is no date set yet for this title unifying bout either, but Nurmagomedov previously stated that he’d like to have the bout happen this September.

It should be noted that the odds will fluctuate multiple times for both fights until the title unification bouts actually start.
