Gail Kim Was Worried That WWE Would Ruin The History She Established With Awesome Kong In TNA
Gail Kim wanted to protect what she and Awesome Kong built.
IMPACT Wrestling Hall Of Famer Gail Kim and former two-time TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong have wrestled each other eleven times throughout their respective runs in IMPACT Wrestling, per Cagematch.net. The majority of those eleven bouts where either for the title, a #1 contender spot or had Street Fight rules attached to it. Both Kim and Awesome Kong’s matches are highly regarded by wrestling fans including their Street Fight from 2008.
Gail Kim and Awesome Kong were also in WWE together and Gail shared during an interview with DS Shin of Ring The Belle that she was worried that WWE would ruin the history that she and Kong established in TNA but was happy that they never wrestled each other in WWE.
“I mean I was happy to see her. I didn’t know what to expect because truly, to be honest, as a professional and trying to protect my career in a sense or be proud of my career, I was afraid of how the company was gonna handle our history whether they were gonna have us wrestle because obviously, I think everyone knows this now, they never really utilized my talents in the ring so I was just afraid of them ruining our history. So that never happened thank God.” Gail expressed.
Gail Kim is two weeks away from coming out of retirement at IMPACT Wrestling’s ‘Rebellion’ pay-per-view where she’ll be facing Tessa Blanchard. Keep an eye out for Fightful’s IMPACT Wrestling coverage article to follow along with tonight’s episode of IMPACT.
