UFC 236: Holloway vs. Poirier 2 Gate, Attendance, And Bonus Information
UFC 236 delivered two epic main events and a strong gate for the company.
Saturday’s event, which was headlined by two Interim Title fights, drew 14,297 fans for a gate of $1,908,721.
The last time UFC was in Atlanta was for UFC 201, an event headlined by Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler. That event drew 10,240 fans for a gate of $1,070,000. The record gate for Atlanta was UFC 88: Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans, which brought in $2.6 million (14,736 attendance) for the company. However, UFC 145: Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans has the attendance record in Atlanta as that event drew 15,545 fans ($2.2 million gate).
As far as bonuses go, there was no Performance of the Night bonuses, but instead, two Fight of the Night bonuses were passed out. It should come as no surprise that the co-main event and main event Interim Title fights took home Fight of the Night honors. In the co-main event, Israel Adesanya bested Kelvin Gastelum to capture the Interim Middleweight Title. It is Gastelum’s second straight Fight of the Night bonus and third overall. It is also Adesanya’s second straight Fight of the Night Bonus.
The main event saw Dustin Poirier outlast Max Holloway to capture the Interim Lightweight Title. Holloway has now won Fight of the Night honors in three of his last four bouts. Meanwhile, Poirier has won six Fight of the Night bonuses in his UFC career.
All four men took home an extra $50,000.
