Dana White Says Cormier/Lesnar Fight Isn’t Even Close To Happening

Former WWE Universal Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar lost the WWE gold to Seth Rollins this past weekend at WWE Wrestlemania 35.

Many thought that the title loss would pave the way for a potential super fight between Lesnar and UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, but UFC President Dana White has a grim outlook on that potential bout.

“Seriously, that fight isn’t even in the works. That might not even happen first (for Cormier),” White said during today’s UFC seasonal press conference (via Ken Pishna of MMA Weekly). “That’s what Cormier said too (when talking about the fans booing the announcement).”

White revealed that he hasn’t even spoken to Lesnar about the potential bout, while Cormier isn’t healthy enough to compete at this time.

The UFC President also revealed that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic may be next against Cormier.

“Nothing happened, we haven’t even talked to Brock,” said White. “I don’t know if he’ll fight again, but we don’t have a date for him right now. First fight (for Cormier) might be Stipe. Nothing happened (with Lesnar). That was what we wanted to do, but Brock and I haven’t even talked. Like I’ve said many times, when Brock Lesnar is ready, he’ll call me. We’ve gotta wait for Cormier. Cormier went back in the gym I think two weeks ago and did a light workout. He’s still not healthy. So as soon as he’s healthy to fight, we can make a decision on when we can do him and if it’s Stipe.”

Miocic and Cormier met for the first time at UFC 226, with Cormier scoring a first round knockout win to capture the UFC Heavyweight Title.
