Report: Road Dogg Steps Down As Head Writer Of SmackDown
Big news on the SmackDown creative team.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Brian James, better known to wrestling fans as Road Dogg, has resigned from his position as head writer on SmackDown. According to the report, James grew “increasingly frustrated” with the changes made to the SmackDown script by Vince McMahon. He reportedly “hit a breaking point” this past Tuesday at SmackDown in Brooklyn.
There is no word on who will replace James in the role or if James will move to another position in the company. Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that James will remain with the company and is currently seen as a “utility player.”
James tweets words of faith and prayer every day but the last two days of tweets would seem to reference this change in his life.

James signed on to be a producer in WWE back in October 2011. He was moved to lead writer of SmackDown in early 2017. Last Friday, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of D-Generation X.
