Kelvin Gastelum Fears Somebody Could Get Shot In The McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov Feud

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor have been embroiled in a very personal feud for quite some time now.

Fellow UFC fighter Kelvin Gastelum fears that somebody could wind up getting shot in their feud, especially with how far things have been taken in recent times.

“I think there are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed,” Gastelum said at a UFC 236 media event (via Dave Doyle of MMA Junkie). “And this rivalry that’s going on right now is escalating to a point where it shouldn’t have to, you know what I mean? I feel like if it keeps escalating the way it is, somebody is going to end up getting hurt or shot, or something. I truly believe that.”

McGregor recently took things too far in some peoples minds, referring to Nurmagomedov’s wife as a towel before saying that under said towel was a goat.

Gastelum is a fan of trash talking in MMA, but says that fighter’s wives shouldn’t be brought into the mix.

“You shouldn’t mess with people’s wives, you shouldn’t mess with people’s lives or their religion, absolutely,” Gastelum said.

UFC 236 takes place on Saturday, April 13 from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia with Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
