Paul Daley Wants A Rematch With MVP

Paul Daley and Michael Page met in the first round of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix, with MVP scoring a controversial decision win at Bellator 216.

With the loss still burning in the back of his mind, one thing Daley wants is another opportunity against MVP.

“It was a close fight. I’ve watched it 10 times,” Daley said at the Bellator London press conference (via Dave Doyle of MMA Junkie). “I score it differently each time so for that instance, then yeah, I would like the rematch. I would like the victory to be more clear, so yeah, definitely a fight I would look to get back.”

MVP will now face Douglas Lima in the semi-finals of the grand prix, while Daley will move onto a bout against Erick Silva at Bellator London.

Daley also doesn’t like the fact that the build up for the fight at Bellator 216 was mostly focused on MVP.

“If you look at the whole buildup to the event, they basically built the fight around Michael Page,” Daley said. “Because I was invited to the grudge match. Like I said, there was no grudge for me. I’m a professional fighter, and I was just there to fight. Again, I don’t want to dwell on it. But there were certain aspects, such as a T-shirt, there was a snake, you could barely see it, it was supposed to represent me as Semtex, you know? There were a lot of different things in the buildup, he did a lot of extra interviews that I didn’t do, stupid things like that, but it’s not something I want to dwell on.”

Bellator London takes place on Saturday, June 22 from the SSE Arena in London, England with Gegard Mousasi and Rafaek Lovato Jr headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
