Jim Ross Hopes “The Final Deletion” Doesn’t Spawn Copycats
The ‘Final Deletion’ drew a lot of things – emotions, viewers, opinions.
The angle – which saw Matt and Jeff Hardy do battle outside their homes – was the most viewed angle since TNA moved to Pop TV, and had the wrestling world talking.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross was not exempt, and offered up his feelings in his latest blog post over at his official website. Ross noted that the segments were incredibly unique, a far cry from the traditional wrestling in which he grew up watching and later covering in the business.
“Talk across the internet regarding ‘Final Deletion’ featuring the Hardy Boys Tuesday night on TNA Impact Wrestling on Pop TV which earned the beleaguered company their biggest TV rating on Pop. The 18 minute, pre taped vignette was certainly unique, novel approach to what we are accustomed to seeing on contemporary, pro wrestling TV,” said Ross.

The NJPW announcer Ross took a polite approach to providing criticism, saying that he doesn’t hope it causes knockoffs and take the focus away from in-ring action.
“Hopefully this presentation will not lead to every wrestling company in the land attempting to do similar, copy cat productions which will take the product farther away from a fundamentally sound in ring product than it already is,” Ross said.
Many have accused the WWE of already employing this strategy. The six-man feud involving New Day and the Wyatt Family seemed to have elements from Matt and Jeff Hardy’s “Final Deletion,” including a trip to The Wyatt Family’s “compound.”
In a later blog, Ross would congratulate Hardy and Jeremy Borash for putting the idea together.
“Speaking of Final Deletion, in addition to Matt Hardy for his original idea, congrats also go out to TNA’s Jeremy Borash who was instrumental in the editing of the 18 minute vignette that is the pro wresting ‘talk’ of the week,” The Hall of Famer said.
