Rory MacDonald Is Interested In A Second Fight With Douglas Lima
Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald is defending the gold against Jon Fitch at Bellator 220, with that bout also serving as an opening round encounter in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix.
Another competitor in the grand prix is former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima, whom MacDonald wouldn’t mind fighting again.
“Lima is the hardest fight,” MacDonald said to Bloody Elbow. “I still have something to prove. I am interested in that. If I had just squashed him and rolled over him, probably not as much, but he gave a good fight. It would be interesting.”
MacDonald and Lima first met back at Bellator 192, with MacDonald picking up the unanimous decision victory and the welterweight title.
The welterweight champion is coming off of a loss to middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206, but MacDonald says he structure is back to normal heading into Bellator 220.
“I’m back to my structure, clocking in and out every day,” said MacDonald. “My training has been hard and focused… My mind is focused only on preparing for this fight. When I was getting ready for Mousasi, I had other things I was more interested in and dealing with.”
Bellator 220 takes place on Saturday, April 27 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Rory MacDonald and Jon Fitch headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on DAZN.
