Gegard Mousasi Claims That Conor McGregor Threatened Him With A Knife
Gegard Mousasi is currently the fifth ranked middleweight in the UFC, but something he said in a recent interview has raised the ire of current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Mousasi, during the UFC 204 post-fight press conference, was asked about what more he can possibly do to get more attention from the MMA community.
“Maybe throw some bottles on someone’s head,” was the middleweight fighters response.
That statement must have angered the featherweight champion in McGregor, who sent an angry text and a threat along with it to Mousasi.
"People liked it, I just spoke the truth. Sometimes you have to say stupid sh*t before people notice you. I got a private message from Conor McGregor. He was cursing at me, the little f**k. He was threatening me. I said 'What are you going to do with your 50 kilos?' The f****r was threatening me with a knife. He knows I could beat his ass any day. I said some stuff that I didn't mean," Mousasi said. "I said 'People don't know who the real fighter is or not.' Of course he's a top fighter. English is not my first language and I just blurt stuff out sometimes. I thought it was funny that he was messaging me,” Mousasi revealed in an interview with Flo Combat.
Mousasi would later confirm on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that the message came from McGregor's real account. Mousasi competes between 185 and 205 pounds, even as high as heavyweight, while McGregor has fought between between 145 and 170 pounds.
Mousasi is coming off of a big win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 204, while McGregor will be challenging UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
