Report: Tyson Fury To Face Tom Schwarz On June 15

The mystery surrounding Tyson Fury‘s opponent for his next fight may soon be resolved.

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Fury is set to face unbeaten heavyweight contender Tom Schwarz on June 15. The fight has not been announced, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission currently has the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas reserved for an ESPN+ boxing card for that date, but the venue has not been finalized.

ESPN has a Top Rank Boxing card from California set for March 23 and Fury’s debut is expected to be officially announced during the broadcast.

Fury would be making his ESPN debut since signing a multi-year co-promotional deal with Top Rank Boxing that would have Fury fight in the United States at least twice a year. Fury had been hoping to have a rematch against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder this fall after Fury’s first ESPN fight, but Wilder rejected a multi-fight deal to fight on ESPN platforms that would lead into the rematch against Fury. Instead, Wilder is moving forward with a title defense against Dominic Breazeale on May 18 that will be televised on Showtime.

Schwarz is a 24-year-old fighter from Germany who has won all 24 of his pro bouts. Schwarz has won a number of titles, including the WBO and WBC Youth titles, and is currently the WBO Intercontinental champion, a title he has held since April 2017. The German heavyweight, currently ranked No. 9 and No. 2 in the IBF and WBO rankings, respectively, has already won his lone fight of 2019 which was a second-round knockout win over Kristijan Krstacic.
