TNA Impact Almost Pulled This Week
As if TNA's problems couldn't keep piling up, it is being reported that TNA was running the risk of not having a show be broadcast.
Dave Meltzer reported that this week's episode of Impact almost was pulled by Pop TV because of a potential issue with musical rights. This is, however, unrelated to the lawsuit TNA President Billy Corgan filed against Dixie Carter and TNA. He said on Wrestling Observer Radio that there was a "good chance" that the show would have been pulled.
"This was a last minute thing that happened during the afternoon where at one point, I don't know if the show actually got pulled, but there was period, and I don't know how long, but it was a period during the day where it looked like there was a chance, a good chance, that the show was going to be pulled by Pop until it was settled and took some of the songs off the air," Meltzer said.
The show did air on Pop TV with several wrestlers' theme songs being dubbed out with crowd noise. TNA wrestler Mike Bennett commented on Twitter about the issue, poking fun at the fact that wrestlers' theme songs were not being played.
As if that wasn't enough of a headache for the company, Meltzer also reported that the company could once again be dealing with payment issues to their wrestlers. Meltzer said that while TNA got enough funding for the Bound for Glory pay-per-view and television tapings to take the company through most of the rest of the year at the very least, it is unclear whether or not TNA has enough money to pay talent.
Should TNA not have the funds to pay their wrestlers, those talent contracts would be breached and they could declare themselves free agents starting next week.
