DAZN Formally Announces Jaime Munguia vs. Dennis Hogan
DAZN has officially announced Jaime Munguia’s WBO junior middleweight title defense against Dennis Hogan.
The fight will take place on April 13 in Monterrey, Mexico, the streaming platform announced on social media. The title bout had already been signed and penciled in for that date and location and DAZN was expected to broadcast the fight, but the streaming service hadn’t made any formal announcement until now.

Munguia had been the WBO champion since May 2018 when he replaced Liam Smith as Sadam Ali’s opponent on an HBO-televised card in New York. Munguia stopped Ali in less than four complete rounds to win his first full world title. This came after Munguia was denied an opportunity to face Gennady Golovkin on May 4 after Canelo Alvarez failed two drug tests months prior to their planned rematch. The role of Golovkin’s opponent was eventually filled by Vanes Martirosyan.
The 22-year-old Munguia then defended his title against Smith last summer before moving on to a title defense against Brandon Cook on the undercard of Canelo vs. Golovkin 2. Afterwards, Munguia headlined a DAZN card from Houston, Texas, defeating Takeshi Inoue by unanimous decision.
Hogan has been the WBO’s mandatory challenger since retaining his WBO Intercontinental title last December when he defeated Jamie Weetch by unanimous decision on a boxing card in Australia. The WBO ordered Munguia and Hogan to fight with a purse bid scheduled for early March, but the two sides managed to agree to a deal on February 27, thus canceling it.
