Junior dos Santos Says That He’ll Finish Derrick Lewis In Two Rounds At UFC Fight Night Wichita

Junior dos Santos makes it clear that he wants a shot at Daniel Cormier.

The headlining match of UFC Fight Night 146 in Wichita, Kansas is Derrick Lewis versus Junior dos Santos. Both men have similar records and are looking to bump up the number in their respective win columns. Although dos Santos has a bout against Lewis coming up, during an interview with Sporting News, his attention was on the UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

Junior dos Santos minced no words when he spoke about wanting to fight for the Heavyweight belt. He added that he knows Daniel Cormier wants to face the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar but feels that no one else wants that fight other than Cormier and explained that he wants his shot at D.C. immediately.

“I’m ready to fight for the title,” dos Santos said. “The only thing now is to see what the UFC wants. I know Daniel Cormier wants to fight Brock Lesnar, but nobody wants to see that fight. He’s the only one that wants that fight. Who else wants to see it? Brock Lesnar is a very big guy. Everybody says it would be an impressive fight. But it’s not fair for the sport. It’s not fair for the division.” He expressed. “I actually want to face Daniel Cormier. He would be a fresh guy for me to fight. He’s done some really good things. It would be good for me to face him. The most important thing for me right now is to keep fighting. If I have to wait six months or one year to get a fight with Daniel Cormier, I don’t want that. I want to fight right now. Right now, I’m going to fight Derrick Lewis and then take off to see my daughter [be] born. Then, I immediately want to fight again and get in a minimum two more fights this year.”

Junior dos Santos feels that in his fight with Derrick Lewis, whomever connects on the first big blow is going to leave the octagon as the victor and that victory will come within two rounds.

“It’s the heavyweight division,” dos Santos said. “Whoever connects on that first shot is going to win the fight. People can expect a very good fight. They can expect speed, a lot of punches and a lot of power on those punches. I believe this fight won’t go more than two rounds. I’m going to finish him in the second round.”
