UFC Reportedly Cuts 5 Fighters From The Roster
The UFC roster has gotten a little bit lighter, it would appear.
Five fighters have disappeared from the UFC.com's list of active fighters. Mehdi Baghdad, Elizabeth Phillips, Leandro Issa, Horacio Gutierrez and Cristina Stanciu were those missing in action.
Baghdad (11-5-0) was originally set to fight on this weekend’s cancelled UFC Fight Night 97 event, but he did go winless in the UFC, with losses coming to Chris Wade and John Makdessi.
Phillips (5-4-0) won one of four fights under the UFC banner, that lone win came over Jessamyn Duke, with the losses coming to Valerie Letourneau, Milana Dudieva and Raquel Pennington.
Issa (13-6-0) earned two victories in his five UFC appearances, with wins over Jumabieke Tuerxun and Yuta Sasaki, while dropping bouts to Russell Doane, Iuri Alcantara and Taylor Lapilus.
Gutierrez (2-3-0) lost both of his bouts in the UFC, those losses came to Enrique Barzola and Teruto Ishihara.
Stanciu (5-2-0) dropped both fights in two UFC appearances, those two defeats came to both Maryna Moroz and Cortney Casey.
The most interesting of all the release probably goes to the aforementioned Baghdad, he was scheduled to fight Jon Tuck at UFC Fight Night 97. The total records of the fighters that were released today in UFC competition was 3-12-0.
