Report: Bellator MMA Signs Christian Edwards
There is going to be a new threat coming to the Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Division as Christian Edwards has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.
MMA Junkie first reported the news, but didn’t specify on a contract length or any financial numbers associated with the deal.
Edwards (0-0-0) has yet to make his professional MMA debut, but has competed a total of three times as an amateur MMA competitor. Edwards would pick a victories over the trio of Dalton Wood, Jonathan Macomb and Ben Meeks as an amateur competitor. Edwards has also competed in some grappling bouts this year, defeating Kar King by second round submission via heel hook at Fight 2 Win MMA 102 in February of 2019. Edwards is also a training partner for UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, who defends the gold against Anthony Smith tomorrow night in the main event of UFC 235.
The newly signed fighter was also the first recipient of the Jackson Wink/Mata Leon Scholarship and Edwards currently trains/lives at the Jackson/Winkeljohn facilities.
No word has been given at this time as to when Edwards is expected to make his promotional debut or whom that bout would be coming against.
