Canelo Alvarez: We’re Prepared For Daniel Jacobs’ Difficult Style

Canelo Alvarez said he’s ready for what he believes will be a difficult fight against Daniel Jacobs.

The two boxers met in New York for a press conference to kick off their three-city tour and Alvarez spoke on the challenge that Jacobs brings to the table. Even after fights against the likes of Miguel Cotto, Gennady Golovkin, Floyd Mayweather and Erislandy Lara, Alvarez said Jacobs brings a very difficult style to deal with.

Regardless of what Jacobs brings in store to the fight, whether it is his power or size advantage over Alvarez, the Mexican champion remains adamant that he will be fully prepared for his 160-pound title unification fight this spring.

“We know his style is going to be very difficult, very complicated, but at this level, that’s what you have to face. We’re prepared, we’re going to train, and we’re going to work for whatever he’s going to bring. I’ve always liked challenges, and this is not an exception. We know what Daniel Jacobs brings: his ability, his qualities, his talent. He knows how to move well in the ring. We’ll do what we always do to prepare ourselves to the fullest and to give the fans a great fight. This is not going to be an exception and we’re going to come out with our hands raised,” Alvarez said.

The fight, which will unify the WBA “Super,” WBC and IBF middleweight titles, between Alvarez and Jacobs will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 4. The card will be streamed on DAZN in the United States.
