WBO Orders Purse Bid For Dina Thorslund vs. April Adams
One of women’s boxing’s pound-for-pound stars has a purse bid later this week.
The WBO announced that super bantamweight champion Dina Thorslund and mandatory challenger April Adams will have a purse bid for their upcoming world title bout. The purse bid is set to take place in Kissimmee, Florida on February 22 with representatives from Thorslund’s promoter (SPAG Promotions) and Adams’ promoter (Ace Boxing Promotions) expected to appear and try to win the rights to host the fight.
The minimum amount for a bid to be submitted for a WBO Female world title is $10,000. WBO President Francisco Valcarcel will preside over the purse bid. The winner of the purse bid will have the right to decide where the fight will take place.
Since making her pro debut in 2015, Thorslund has won all 13 of her fights and has captured the interim WBC and European 122-pound titles before becoming the WBO world champion. The 25-year-old Thorslund has held the WBO title since August 2018 when she defeated Jessica Arreguin Munoz by unanimous decision. Thorslund successfully retained her title on January 19 when she won a 10-round decision against Alesia Graf.
Adams has won her last seven fights, which included winning the Australian and WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight titles. Adams sports a 11-1-1 pro record and is coming off a second-round TKO win over Rungnapha Kaewkrachang this past August in Australia.
