Miz Recalls Real World Casting Call

The Miz got a bit nostalgic this week, throwing it back to the early 2000s.

The Intercontinental Champion posted on Instagram Tuesday about returning to Palm Springs, California, where he auditioned almost 16 years earlier for the Real World / Road Rules Casting Special. He posted the following.

“In December 2000 I flew to Palm Springs, CA to film The Real World/ Road Rules Casting Special w/ 25 other hopefuls. After a week I was chosen to be on The Real World 10: Back to New York. My entertainment career started in Palm Springs. Tonight w/ my beautiful wife @therealmaryseouellet by my side I performed in front of a sold out @wwe crowd on #Day182 of The Miz Never Ending Intercontinental Championship World Tour IN PALM SPRINGS. I truly believe that if I didn't get casted on The Real World my life would be completely different. Real World gave me the confidence to believe I can do anything with my life. So thank you to Jon Murray, Mary-Ellis Bunim, and the entire casting crew for giving a 20 year old kid a shot,” Miz said on Instagram.

Miz started his current reign as Intercontinental Champion on April 4, the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 32. He defeated Zack Ryder to win the IC title. Ryder won the title at WrestleMania, the day before.

Mike Mizanin, Miz’s real name, will defend his title Sunday at No Mercy in a title vs. career match. He will face Dolph Ziggler, and as the stipulation states, Ziggler will be forced to retire if he loses the match.
