Charlie Edwards To Defend WBC Flyweight Title On Loaded Matchroom Boxing Show In March

WBC flyweight champion Charlie Edwards will be back in action next month to defend his title for the first time.

Matchroom Boxing announced a loaded quadruple-header of title fights taking place at the Copper Box Arena in London on March 23. In the main event, Edwards will face former EBU European Union titleholder Angel Moreno.

Edwards, currently riding a six-fight win streak, won the title this past December with a fairly wide unanimous decision win over Cristofer Rosales, who was making his second defense of his title at the time. Moreno will challenge for his first world title and has won his last nine fights, having won the WBO Latino 112-pound title in the process.

The second of the four title fights is a bout for the British light heavyweight title as rising star Joshua Buatsi takes on Liam Convoy. Buatsi will challenge for the title in his 10th pro fight, having won the WBA Continental title in his seventh pro and is already ranked No. 5 by the WBA at 175 pounds. Convoy, a former BBBofC English and Northern Area champion, has won his last nine bouts.

Another rising star will also be in a title fight of his own as Lawrence Okolie fights Wadi Camacho for the BBBofC British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles. A win for Okolie moves him closer to a potential world title shot as he is ranked No. 6 by the WBA. Lastly, Lewis Ritson will defend his BBBofC British lightweight title against Andy Townend.
