Madison Square Garden To Host Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan

Terence Crawford is coming back to Madison Square Garden for another big main event fight.

Top Rank Boxing announced on Twitter that Crawford’s WBO welterweight title defense against Amir Khan is taking place at the New York City venue. The fight is slated to headline an ESPN pay-per-view card on April 20.

This will be Crawford’s first fight at Madison Square Garden since 2017 when he retained his unified junior welterweight titles against Felix Diaz. Crawford won the fight by stoppage after 10 rounds. It will also be Crawford’s third career trip to MSG for a fight and second career pay-per-view main event in the United States.

Crawford has held the WBO 147-pound title since June 2018 when he defeated Jeff Horn to win a world title in a third weight class. Crawford retained his welterweight title for the first time with a 12th-round stoppage victory over Jose Benavidez Jr. in October.

Khan, on a two-fight win streak, has not fought at Madison Square Garden since 2010 when he defeated Paulie Malignaggi by TKO in the 11th round to retain his WBA junior welterweight champion. The 32-year-old Khan is coming off a unanimous decision win over Samuel Vargas on a Matchroom Boxing card in Birmingham this past September.
