Report: Artem Lobov Granted Release By The UFC
Artem Lobov’s time in the UFC has come to an end because the fighter has asked for and been granted a release by the UFC.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN first reported the news, while also stating that Lobov is looking to sign a contract to compete in MMA, kickboxing and boxing going forward.
Lobov earned a 2-5-0 record in the UFC (13-15-1-1NC overall), with those two wins coming over the duo of Chris Avila and Teruto Ishihara. Lobov also exits the UFC while in the midst of a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Cub Swanson, Andre Fili and Michael Johnson.
It has been nearly four years since Lobov fought outside of the UFC auspices, with his last non-UFC bout coming at Absolute Championship Berkut 13 in January of 2013, defeating Rasul Shovhalov by second round submission.
The fighter first entered the UFC while competing on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 22, making it to the finals before losing a unanimous decision to Ryan Hall.
Since getting released, a new free agent Lobov has posted the following on Twitter:
