Report: Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte “Dead” For April 13; Jarrell Miller Offered Joshua Fight
As the clock keeps ticking on Anthony Joshua’s next fight, midnight has struck for a potential rematch against Dillian Whyte on April 13, according to reports.
Multiple reports claim that Joshua and Whyte, which had been the main fight targeted for the unified heavyweight champion after not being able to secure a fight against WBC champion Deontay Wilder, is no longer happening on April 13 at Wembley Stadium. There is still the possibility for the fight to happen, but only at a later date.
Whyte had been targeted for a fight against Joshua for some time, but the opening rounds of negotiations saw Whyte express unhappiness over his initial offer. The report from Ring Magazine goes far as to say that the fight itself is dead only salvageable by putting it at a later date, but Whyte is no longer the frontrunner to get the fight.
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has now offered unbeaten contender Jarrell Miller a shot for Joshua’s titles. The two are reportedly now deep in negotiations with ESPN saying that both sides are less than $1 million apart from reaching a deal.
Such a fight would not be shocking if it were made as Hearn recently told fans that Joshua vs. Miller is a possibility. If Joshua fights Miller, the fight would most likely take place at Madison Square Garden in June and headline a boxing card on the DAZN streaming service. It would be the first time Anthony Joshua fights on American soil as a pro.
Joshua has yet to fight since successfully defending his WBA “Super,” WBO and IBF heavyweight titles this past September when he knocked out Alexander Povetkin. That fight also headlined a boxing card at Wembley Stadium and was also streamed on DAZN.
