Huge UFC 206 Title Fight Set For Main Event
The UFC Light Heavyweight Title will be defended at UFC 206 as Daniel Cormier will defend the gold against Anthony Johnson at UFC 206.
Cormier will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192. Cormier defeated Johnson in their first meeting at UFC 187, which earned Cormier the UFC Interim Light Heavyweight Title. Cormier would become UFC Light Heavyweight Champion when Jon Jones failed a drug test at UFC 200.
Johnson will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with all of them being finishes over Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira. Johnson has actually won six of seven fights in his second UFC run, with that lone loss came to the aforementioned Cormier.
Cormier will be making his eighth straight UFC pay-per-view appearance, but this will be his first main event fight in over a year. Johnson will be appearing on his second straight UFC pay-per-view and his second main event appearance thus far this year.
Rumors have been swirling for sometime that Anthony Johnson would face interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, with the winner facing Cormier, this according to a statement once made by UFC President Dana White. Jones' disciplinary situation in relation to his failed drug test in July has yet to clear up.
UFC 206 takes place on December 10th from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining.
