Smackdown Star Undergoes Surgery, Could Miss 4-6 Months

Just as his tag team partner is nearing a return, Erick Rowan could miss a half-year of action.

Rowan underwent surgery this morning in Birmingham, Alabama to repair a torn rotator cuff, according to ProWrestling.net. Rowan, a member of the Wyatt Family, is the latest member of the group to battle the injury bug.

The typical recovery time for a torn rotator cuff varies, but is generally 4-6 months. The WWE has had a huge series of shoulder injuries over the past year, as Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn, John Cena, Cesaro, Randy Orton and Shelton Benjamin have all been put out of action.

Rowan missed four months of action in 2015 with a torn biceps, and Wyatt Family leader Bray Wyatt was ruled out for several weeks this year due to a calf injury. Rowan's partner Luke Harper has also been out since before WrestleMania with a knee injury, but seems poised to return soon.

Rowan last competed on September 26, in a losing effort to Apollo Crews during a WWE live event. Rowan's most recent televised match was a September 20 loss to Randy Orton on Smackdown live.
