Antuanne Russell, Chordale Booker To Be On FS1 Prelim Card For Keith Thurman vs. Josesito Lopez
Before Fox gets to air Keith Thurman’s first boxing fight since 2017, Fox Sports 1 (FS1) will get to air a prelim card.
The January 26 boxing card from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will feature Thurman defending his WBA “Super” welterweight title against Josesito Lopez in the main event on Fox. FS1 will air a tripleheader of boxing fights involving a number of prospects as part of a prelim card.
The three fights that were announced are the following:
• Chris Colbert vs. Josh Hernandez: Super featherweight bout
• Antuanne Russell vs. Roberto Almazan: Junior welterweight bout
• Chordale Booker vs. Juan De Angel: Junior middleweight bout.
As for the main card that will air on Fox, two other fights are taking place before Thurman’s bout against Lopez. The first is a heavyweight bout between undefeated rising contender Adam Kownacki and former title challenger Gerald Washington. That fight will serve as the co-feature bout of the telecast.
The opening fight on the Fox broadcast is a 12-round featherweight bout between unbeaten Mongolian boxer Tugstsogt Nyambayar and former WBA interim title challenger Claudio Marrero. According to Boxrec, the fight will be for the vacant IBO featherweight world title.
Also announced for the card are a pair of fights that will be on the non-televised undercard. Antonio Russell, the brother of Antuanne and Gary Russell, will face Lucas Baez and Marsellos Wilder, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, will face an opponent to be named at a later date.
