Ariane Andrew Talks Chemistry With Ember Moon, If She Regrets Going Back To NXT, Asuka, More
Ariane Andrew opens up about a number of topics.
Former member of ‘The Funkadactyls’ Ariane Andrew or better known by wrestling fans as “Cameron” has been out of the squared circle since 2016 and has been chasing other ventures outside of the professional wrestling world. Ariane signed with WWE’s then-developmental establishment Florida Championship Wrestling in 2011 and remained with the sports- entertainment company for a total of five years and was released from her contract in 2016. Towards the end of Ariane’s time in WWE, she went back to NXT to continue developing her skills and while recently guest appearing on ‘Ring The Belle’ with DS Shin, Ariane stated that although going back to developmental may have cost her a spot on the main roster, she does not regret the move because she wanted to get better and earn her keep.
“I don’t regret anything. I never regret anything in life because I feel like anything you do in life is a learning lesson and you learn and grow and even though it ultimately cost me my job, I wouldn’t take it back for the world because for me, it was about going back and improving my skills and I wanted to show the WWE Universe that I can do this, and yeah that meant giving up my spot and it takes a lot of guts and most people won’t do that so…” She explained.
Ariane named Naomi and Eva Marie as two people from her time in WWE who she considers to be close friends but another in-ring performer who Ariane credited as being someone who has given her great matches was former NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon.
“You know what? Someone who was my complete favorite was Ember Moon and I know that, and that’s kind of taking it back because she wasn’t on the [main] roster [while I was there]. It [was] when I was back down in NXT. We had some great matches. We just vibed. Our chemistry was just always on point. I had the best matches with her.” Ariane shared.
Ariane further elaborated on her time in NXT and commented on the match she had with current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Asuka in 2015 which was a squash match to showcase Asuka but Ariane looks at from a different perspective.
“And you know, ultimately it wasn’t a fairy tale ending but one thing I can walk away saying, ‘You know what? Yes. I was willing to give up my spot because I wanted to be a force to reckon with.’ I like to work hard for my money and I don’t wanna just sit in catering and that may work for some people. I know that I’m a very talented person and that’s not to come off cocky or anything.” She continued, “I know that I had so much to give that if I was in developmental like all the other girls, I would’ve been one of the top girls.” She continued by speaking about the 2015 match with Asuka, “This is actually one of my favorite matches too. I think I took a butt kicking pretty damn good, and it was great actually working with Asuka and especially with the language barrier, I was actually very nervous thinking like, ‘Oh sh*t, how are we gonna communicate?’ But she’s fabulous too. I love Asuka.”
As mentioned, Asuka is the current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion and is set to defend her title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view against Becky Lynch.
