Shawn Michaels Says He No Longer Wants To Wrestle; Adds That He’s Had His Time In The Spotlight
HBK had fun while it lasted but he has said he is done.
WWE Hall Of Famer and former 3-time WWF World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels returned to the ring this past November at WWE’s ‘Crown Jewel’ event in Saudi Arabia after staying retired for eight years. The 53-year old Michaels teamed with Triple H to take on and defeat Kane and The Undertaker. During the match Triple H tore his pectoral and Michaels attempted to go for a moonsault to the outside but ended up landing on his face. Once the match was over Michaels could visibly be seen in the corner laughing with Triple H saying, “We’re too old for this”.
During his post-match interview, Michaels stated that he was done in the ring although it was good to get back out there. He echoed those same sentiments when he was interviewed at the WWE NXT U.K. Performance Center unveiling. Michaels talked with Sky Sports and jokingly stated that he was forced to return to the ring but added that he seriously no longer wants to wrestle and stated that the only thing better than having a WrestleMania moment is to see others have theirs.
“They forced me,” Michaels said. “No, it was a really special thing and I really felt that one for a while. I’m good with what I’ve done.” He continued, “I no longer want to do it any more. The only thing better than having your own WrestleMania moment is watching and helping someone with theirs,” he said. “We had our time, we know the potential of so many of these men and women and we know the joy they can have and we want to pass it on.”
