Chris Jericho And Rey Mysterio Detail The Night Eddie Guerrero Tried To Fight Kurt Angle

Eddie Guerrero’s temper got him tied up by an Olympic gold medalist.

On a special Talk is Jericho, Chris Jericho was joined by Diamond Dallas Page, Rey Mysterio, and Konnan to remember the career of Eddie Guerrero. During their discussion, Jericho brought up Eddie’s temper and the time he tried to fight Kurt Angle backstage.

“Eddie would snap. He had a really bad temper. His line was always, ‘You think your shit don’t stink?’ Something happened in a match with Kurt and Eddie,” recalled Jericho “It was a SmackDown show and they got into a fight in the middle of the ring. I don’t know what happened, there might have been a miscommunication. Kurt was very green and Eddie was very intense. Afterward, Eddie called him out and said, ‘You think your shit don’t stink?’ He took a swing at Kurt and Kurt tied him in a Christmas bow.”

Mysterio provided more details on the aftermath of the incident.

“It was Chavo that calmed Eddie down after the Kurt incident,” said Rey. “Chavo told Eddie, ‘Why did you pick a fight with Kurt, what were you thinking?’ Eddie said, ‘Shit, I wasn’t thinking, man.'”

Jericho continued, noting that Eddie’s temper also caused him to get into a fight with Road Warrior Hawk, which “didn’t end up very good for him.”

Guerrero and Angle first wrestled a singles bout on SmackDown in 2000. Angle has previously discussed a backstage fight with Guerrero (you can listen to his comments here), but it came when Eddie was having health issues later in his career.
